Oli and Deuba to Strengthen Nepal-China Ties with Back-to-Back Visits

Kathmandu: Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to embark on an official visit to China from December 2 to 5 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. Accompanied by his spouse, Radhika Shakya, and a high-level delegation, PM Oli’s visit aims to bolster bilateral relations and explore new avenues for cooperation.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing and hold bilateral talks with Premier Li on matters of mutual interest. Additionally, he will engage with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and address the Nepal-China Business Forum. This forum is being co-hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, the China Council for Promotion of International Trade, and the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, who recently concluded a preparatory visit to China, will join PM Oli during his visit. Minister Deuba met her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Chengdu, where they discussed key aspects of Nepal-China relations, including visa waivers for Nepali citizens and potential agreements to be finalized during the Prime Minister’s visit.
Minister Deuba praised China for its continued support and extended an invitation to Minister Wang to visit Nepal. She also congratulated China on its 75th anniversary and discussed plans for celebrating 70 years of Nepal-China diplomatic relations next year.
The Prime Minister’s delegation includes senior government officials, members of parliament, private sector representatives, and media personnel. The visit underscores the ongoing efforts to deepen economic and social collaboration between the two nations. PM Oli and his team will return to Nepal on December 5.
